A central yet secluded and cozy area of the city. Here you have a short distance to shops, restaurants and activities, as well as hiking opportunities along the beautiful Akerselva river.

  • Parks og nature

    The Akerselva river which divides the city, streams through the area and offers great hiking opportunities all year round. In the summer you can take a bath at Nydalsdammen or at Nydalen. There are several green parks in the area such as Bjølsenparken, Myraløkka and Voldsløkka. There is also a short distance to Maridalsvannet and Nordmarka.

  • Culture, nightlife and shopping

    The area has several nice streets with small shops and neighborhood restaurants. At Nydalen you find Oslo's largest shopping mall, Storo Storsenter, with a good selection of shops, restaurants and cinema. Close to Nydalen you also find a famous impro theather called Det Andre Teatret.

  • Sports and training

    One of SiO Athleticas gyms, Athletica Nydalen is located in this area. If you like outdoor training, you can pay a visit to Voldsløkka, located between Nydalen and Bjølsen. At Voldsløkka you find football pitches, tennis courts, beach volleyball courts, skate hall, hockey field and an artificial ice rink.
