  • Parks and nature

Even though it is located in the midle of the city, this area offers many opportunities to retreat in quiet and green surroundings. Sofienbergparken, or the smaller parks Birkelunden, Olaf Ryes or Kuba-parken are nice places to barbecue or hang out with friends during the summer. The idyllic Botanical Garden at Tøyen is worth a visit regardless of the season, and on Sundays you can take a walk along Akerselva or through the streets to view all the exciting street art in the area.

  • Culture, nightlife and shopping

This area is well known for its exciting selection of niche- and second-hand stores. If you want to eat out, there is a large selection of cafés and eateries at Tøyen Torg or Mathallen, or in streets like Markveien or Torggata. Here you also find Oslo's best nightlife, with several bars, cultural scenes and clubs such as Parkteateret, Blå, Ingensteds and Vega Scene.

  • Sports and training

From this area it is a short way to SiO's gym, Athletica Vulkan. There are also several outdoor training parks and other training opportunities in the area - such as basketball courts by Kubaparken, sand volleyball courts by Vaterland, and football fields by Tøyenparken.

The best thing about living at Grünerløkka is the vibrant streets, it's almost like living in Camden, London or in Tribeca, New York.
