Reportage from Grünerløkka Student House

This is how it is at Grünerløkka Student House

  • Construction projects at Grünerløkka Studenthus

It has been approximately 20 years since Grünerløkka Student House had a thorough rehabilitation and the building is now undergoing an interior upgrade that is carried out in 3 phases. When the project is finished the residences will have a contemporary standard with a new kitchen, better storage, waste sorting, a dishwasher, bright colors and good lighting. These works were started in July 2023. The rehabilitation work means that residents must move from their residence before the works start on the floor where they live.

There will be 3 phases with relocation

The project will be carried out in 3 construction phases. One construction phase is carried out at a time and the rest of the residents will live in the building while the other construction phases take place.

    Phase 1: Floor 13.-18.

    Completed: December 2023

    Phase 2: Floor 7. - 12.

    Estimated completion: 31.07.2024

    Phase 3: Floor 1. - 6.

    Moving out date: 30.06.2024

    Start up: 01.07.2024

    Estimated completion: 31.12.2024

    Working hours and noise

The working hours will be 07:00 - 17:00. The work will cause noise, among other things in connection with the replacement of the kitchen and drilling works in connection with the establishment of new lighting.

The works in the start of each project will cause the largest degree of noise. How much noise, will vary a lot through this first period.

Residents are guaranteed another SiO residence

Residents who live in the building when the project starts, are guaranteed to get another SiO housing when the rehabilitation project starts if they wish; as long as they still meet the criteria in the Allocation Regulations. Residents can of course apply for housing in the student house as the housing units are completed, but we cannot guarantee that the resident will get the housing they had.

Upgrading works in the entrance area

Upgrading works in the entrance area will start in mid-August / beginning of September 2024. The works will cause noise and at times it will not be possible to use this entrance to the building. We will arrange for a temporary entrance on the floor below during these periods.

    Exterior rehabilitation works

We will carry out external rehabilitation work on the building in the period approx. March 2025 – approx. September 2025. Scaffolding will be put up on the facade and the work will cause noise and dust.
